Chip Shots - How To Boost Your Chipping With These Three Ideas

By Carter Singleton

One of the commonest questions I am getting related to the short game is how do I improve my chipping? This is a standard problem that many golfers have, and yet it is a problem that with a little practice you can cure! While most of us will never be well placed to hit the ball like Tiger Woods because we simply don't have the physical abilities, their actually is no reason that you can't have an excellent short game that is tour quality.

1. When chipping the golf ball, ensure that you have got an open stance and play the ball even with your back foot. Putting the ball back in your position will ensure a solid strike, which means bigger consistency and control on each shot. The open position will make sure that you start the ball online, which will lead directly to having shorter putts.

2. Make sure that you get things rolling as early as possible. One of the most typical issues that amateur golfers make is they attempt to play each shot around the green with a sand wedge or lob wedge, and as a consequence hit poor shots that either come up short or skull across the green. To make certain this doesn't happen, chip with a 6 or 7 iron rather than a wedge. This will permit you to get the ball moving sooner like a putt which will enhance your chipping and promote consistent contact and distance control.

3. Keep your head down. This is perhaps the most common golf tip ever, and yet it appears all golfers including myself grapple with this from time to time. I shoot par solidly and I find that many of my bad shots including chip shots are the result of me looking up on each shot. This leads to poor contact and distance control, which is one of the key reasons behind bad chipping.

Implementing these 3 tips should seriously enhance your golf game, and these very same tips have improved my chipping and they're going to do the same for you.
