Hit That Ball Farther With These Golfing Tips And Tricks

By Aaron Fagan

Every golfer just wants to know those perfect golfing tips on how to hit the golf ball farther. Serious golfers probably watch TV and see other golfers hit 195 yards on a 7 iron. Those golfers at home are wondering, how come I can only hit my 7 iron 150 yards? Watching golf on TV doesn't really give you the whole perspective. There are other factors to consider such as how down wind or down hill it is. Whatever the case may be, we all want to know those golfing tips and tricks on hitting the golf ball farther.

Some clubs are built for distance, while others are built for accuracy. Most of the time, people don't really know the difference. All the more do people not know what is causes that golf ball to go farther. Here are the two things to consider for you to hit that ball farther.

1. Hit the Ball More Solid

Most people think that swinging hard and swinging fast will get that ball to go farther. But even by swinging the club at a 110 mile per hour speed won't get your ball that far if you hit the ball off the toe and with an open clubface. Getting a more solid contact with the ball will make more of a difference. By creating a solid connection, more distance will happen because of the way you compressed that ball better.

You can do this:

First of all, notice where the ball hits the clubface. You can determine this by wrapping some masking tape around your clubface and try hitting some shots. After you get some shots done, check where the mark of the ball is on the face. If you see that the mark is too high, too low, or basically off center, then this is what's costing you the distance. What you really want to see is that mark right at the center of the clubface. In this way, you won't have to swing too hard to really get the most out of the distance.

2. Be Conscious of Speed

Another thing that makes the golf ball go farther is speed. People's excitement can cause them to swing the club fast and hard starting from the top. What happens here is that speed is made from the top of the swing down to the ball.

What happens here is that you end up using all your speed from the top of the swing. About three quarters down and by the time the golf club hits the ball, there's nothing left in the tank. Either the club maintained it's maximum speed, or it slowed down a bit. Instead of having a lot of speed at the top, what we want to happen is to create the speed not at the top, but through the golf ball and up until the finish.

You can do this:

Take the driver, flip it over and hold it near the head. The grip is positioned where you normally hit the ball. You're not going to be hitting balls this time though, so there's no need to place a ball there.

What you're going to do is try to listen for an audio cue from the butt end of the club as it swings through the grip end. If you created speed early on, you're going to hear a loud noise from the shoulder down to the waist. If you did it correctly, however, you're going to hear that noise from a foot or two off the ground, up to knee high on your left side or past where the impact should have been.

Noticing these two factors will allow you to hit that golf ball farther. Practicing these golfing tips and tricks will also put more efficiency to your swings, getting that ball far without necessarily putting out more force. So take these tips and exercises out onto the course the next time you go out to play. You'll be amazed at how much squinting you'd have to do just to see where your ball has gone.
