Golfing Has Never Been This Easy Before!

By Martha Anderson

Golf can be one dangerous game. It is a seductive and addictive sport that can suck away your time and money - sometimes without any benefit. By learning more about the sport, though, you can protect yourself from potential time-wasting and make sure that you get the most out of what you devote to golf.

A great way to putting some power behind your shot is to keep your body behind the ball before impact. Make sure your right foot is anchored all the way through, premature lifting of the right foot will take a lot of power out of your shot. You will not get as much distance either.

Slicing is a common mistake which you can avoid by lots of practice. The problem is that the clubface incorrectly hits the ball which as a result, curves to the right. Make sure your knees, hips, and shoulders are parallel to the target line. Use your arms and hands on the downswing instead of your shoulders and body.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to rent some golf instruction tapes to better yourself. Sometimes it is not possible to take lessons, however watching tips provided from experts may be all that you need to improve your game and at a much cheaper way of doing so.

Keep your confidence high by playing with other players of your level. When you are first starting out, choose easy courses and play with other beginners. There is no point in crushing your enthusiasm by trying to take on a really tough course and competing against players who outrank you.

The way your golf game ends depends on your putting capabilities. Putting is one of the most difficult things to do correctly in golf. It is recommended that you go to the putting greens regularly just to practice your putting and nothing else. This will be very beneficial to you as you continue to play rounds of golf.

Keep your grip at an even pressure. Grip too hard and your ball will have a tendency to fly right. Grip too loosely and you will send it left. Maintain an even pressure in your grip that allows for comfort and control. Keep this in mind if you find your shots going off course and adjust accordingly.

Take the time to read up on golf course etiquette before hitting the course. Simple gaffes like moving while someone is putting or hitting out of turn can lead to mistakes by your playing partners or others out on the course. Learn the basics of etiquette and avoid causing frustration during your next round.

When you are finding your stance make sure you align your club face first and then align your body. This will ensure that the club face is facing the right direction so if your body alignment is wrong it will compensate some for the discrepancy you made in body alignment.

When attempting to make a long putt, or any putt for that matter, look at the hole instead of the ball. When you focus on the hole your brain automatically calculates distance for you. When you focus on the ball, your brain does not have the ability to determine the distance from the ball to the hole.

Now you should be able to see why golf can be such an enjoyable sport to participate in. There is so much fun and relaxation to be had as one tries to putt the golf ball into the hole. With these tips in mind, you can start putting like a pro!
