Menorca outdoor activities

By Lana Adames

Menorca has something to offer all of us. With its sensational weather, amazing beaches, family friendly resorts and fantastic night-life, there is no-one to which it doesn't hold a certain amount of appeal. One of its strengths is in its diversity of activities available for those wishing to take part in something relaxing to those who wish to pursue something more adrenalin-based and exhilarating. Let's take a look at some of the more popular activities.

Scuba Diving. There is no shortage of scuba diving opportunities in Menorca and they cater for the beginner too with courses and tuition available. In fact, they also offer advanced levels should the more experienced diver decide to add to his ability. The Malakoff Wreck is a popular diving site but is more for the advanced diver than the beginner.

Walking. There a huge array of tracks in Menorca and some offer wonderful hiking opportunities. There is history all around and the gorges are perfect for ramblers. There are plans under way to restore a coastal path that extends along the coastline and is due to be completed shortly. It is called the Came de Cavalls. There are sections which are open already.

Sailing. There are some great places in Menorca for sailing and they offer equipment along with other facilities for the newbie as well as the advanced. Considered to be the sailing capital of Menorca, Ses Salines has various kinds of racing dingies including Wayfarer and Lasers. They also offer tuition for all grades and also allow you to take the RYA exams.

Golf. There is only one golf course in Menorca, lying on the North side. However, Son Parc is a very impressive golf course with eighteen holes and located in a stunning setting. Their facilities are very impressive as such as its driving range, putting green and restaurant and for those wishing to temporarily exchange their golf club for a tennis racket, there are also tennis courts available. If you aren't equipped, so don't worry as golf clubs and carts are available for hire.
