The Key Players To Keep An Eye On In Pro Tennis

By Zandra Mahrer

The 2010 tennis season looks like being a great one, if the recent Australian Open was anything to go by. Although classed as once of the more senior players on the tour, Roger Federer fired out a warning to all those waiting to take his crown by easily taking the title with style and grace.

Don't assume, however, at this early stage, it's going to be the same winners at all the Majors. There are a few good players just waiting to seize the moment and lift a few big titles themselves. Here are a few who showed great promise last year, and this could well be their time to shine.

Melanie Oudin, the 18 year old American, had a terrific 2009 and could really break through this year. Reaching the semi final in the US Open was the highlight of last year, who's to say she won't do even better this year?

With time on her side to improve even further and grow in strength and confidence, you can bet that her competitors are keeping an eye on her.

21 year old Marin Cilic is a rising force to be reckoned with in the men's game. Only 21 years old and already established as a top ten player, this young man could really come through and realize his potential in 2010.

He has started the year brilliantly, and currently has a 15-1 record, he'll be hoping to capitalize on this and go on to cause some major upset in the coming year.

His career has unfortunately been blighted by gambling scandals, but now that these are behind him, he is fully focusing on his tennis.

Finally these are behind him and he is enjoying his tennis again. Currently ranked no.6, his recent form against Federer in particular has been very impressive. On form both physically and mentally, watch out for some great results from Davydenko in the coming year.
