Golf Equipment All Amateurs Should Have

By John Willis

You may have seen various beginner golf equipment pieces and sets advertised on golf channels and the internet. The problem is these packages tend to include equipment that beginning golfers won't really benefit from or aren't ready to use. Starting with a few basic pieces of beginner golf equipment that you can add to later as your game improves is a better way to go.

A good pair of golf shoes is the first thing you'll need. You'll be spending a lot of time on your feet as you play a game of golf so make sure the shoes you purchase fit your feet and are comfortable to wear. Your first few games may be uncomfortable as you break in your shoes but you can minimize this by wearing them off the course or to the driving range first. Your spikes will need to be appropriate for the courses that you'll play most often. As an example, most courses in the U.S. require soft spike shoes. Paradoxically, a golf umbrella is actually a crucial piece of golf equipment.

A golf ball finder is another wise investment. You can find a pair of special eyeglasses that eliminate the grass from your view making it easier to spot your ball. There are really two reasons that a golf ball finder is helpful for beginners to have. One of the reasons is you will lose fewer balls as you learn the game. Second, it will help you see where your ball is going once you've hit it. It can also be used to identify problems with your swing if you have issues with your ball veering left or right of where you aimed it.

You will also need to invest in golf club head covers. Good golf clubs are an investment. It can cost a few hundred dollars even for a beginners set of golf clubs. You need to protect that investment in order to lengthen the life and usefulness of your clubs by investing in quality head covers to protect them from banging in to one another in the bag, the back of your closet, and during the drive to and from the golf course. Covers can be anything from plain to whimsical so have fun with it and look for ones that reflect your personal style.

There are all kinds of covers available from the utilitarian to the whimsical so have fun with this purchase and let it say something about your own personal style. These items are essential to a good game of golf. When you're just getting started with your golf journey, you need all the help you can get. These inexpensive items will greatly impact the quality of your game and your enjoyment of it. By investing in smaller pieces of necessary equipment first, you can save your money for the larger investments that you will need later.
