Tennis Holidays to Wimbledon for the Perfect Match

By Steve Alexander

Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, tennis fanatics from all corners of the globe will flock to London for the astounding Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Whether it's part of a longer break or tailor-made holidays specifically for the tennis, tourists fall in love with the tradition of a glass of Pimms and strawberries and cream whilst watching the tennis.

If you're not lucky enough to get a ticket in the official ballot, there are still a number of options for you. You could get a ticket on the day, but be prepared to queue. An early start and steely determination is necessary, but all is still not lost if you're not one of the chosen few to buy one of the 500 tickets on the day. If you've purchased tickets but not to the 'show' matches, you'll be able to sit on 'Henman Hill', named after Tim Henman, and watch the matches on a large screen there.

You can still add a tennis element to cheap holidays to London even if you're unable to buy tickets. A guided tour around the grounds lasts an hour and a half and takes you on a behind-the-scenes journey through the most recognised tennis ground. You can explore the game's evolution from a fun-filled pastime to the sport it is today, in the museum, as admission is included in the tour.

Of course, if you need a break from rackets, tennis balls and civilised spectating, you're in the perfect place to explore more of London as a whole. The area of Wimbledon has many restaurants, bars and cafes to enjoy, as well as gorgeous parks and commons for some al-fresco picnicking.

The best of the capital is just a short 30 minute tube journey away, which will take you into central London. You'll be able to see a show in the West End, visit top tourist attractions such as Madame Tussaud's and London Zoo or simply enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city on your cheap holiday deals.
