Three Suggestions For New Golf Players

By Chris Scarborough

It seems that everyone who has played golf at least once gets bitten by the golfing bug and can't wait to start playing this very popular game. It is a game that is good for a lot of people because it is competitive, but not that exhausting.

If you are a beginning golf player, you might have the urge to race to the store and purchase the priciest golf clubs you can find. However, this is not what should be done if you have not played the game before. In fact, your first couple of games should be played with rented golf clubs until you know if you even like playing the game. Why throw money out of the window before you are really sure that you like the game and want to continue playing it. If you have been bitten by the golf bug, though, and are a relatively advanced player, you can consider getting a set of professionally fitted clubs. Even though they are expensive, it is a good investment because of how thick the grip is to the length and how rigid the shaft is.

The easiest method for making your golf game better is to employ a professional instructor. Since you will be paying money for his time, you need to really use the instructor to your benefit. This means that you need to stop being shy and speak up. If you don't understand something, tell the instructor. You should not be afraid to tell him what you want and your problem. Also, attempt to stay calm. This is because if you're nervous, you will swing too quickly and you won't be able to concentrate. You must focus on the game and instructor or you are wasting valuable time and will not learn a thing.

Having a great golf swing is the key to having a great golf game. Mastering the golf swing involves many factors. But, one of these factors involves getting the right aim. Many golfers align their feet to the right of their target and end up swinging too far to the left. The best way to align yourself is to have your toes parallel to the mark, with the club head pointing in the direction you want the ball to go. Also, if you want to have a good distance swing, then you need to get some power. Although strength is very crucial to acquiring the right power, your swing is also very important when it comes to this. The way to generate the optimum amount of power is to turn so that your left shoulder is over your right foot on the backswing.

Clearly, there are many things that have to be done to learn golf and improve your game. Persistence and dedication, though, make a powerful combination, which will help you become a great golf player. However, do not expect improvement overnight because even pros take years to become excellent. If you concentrate on the game, find time to enjoy yourself and calm down, you will see an improvement in your game. This will continue to happen until you reach the point that you can play on the golf course and others see you with envy.
