By Moglori Sparia

Any standard golf club, whether nine holes or more, consists of a very large area and when one considers that an average golfer carries up to ten kilograms of golfing equipment between the holes, golf buggies becomes quite an attractive commodity.

These buggies are designed to accommodate two golfers along with the equipment. They reach a speed of about fifteen miles per hour and are operated with a four stroke engine.

These motors have been used since the year nineteen fifty one and were invented by a man named Merle Williams. The first buggies were electric and nowadays they are mostly gasoline powered. They are also fitted with commodities that allows for all kinds of weather protection. In general they are four feet wide, eight feet long and six feet high. They weigh up to one thousand pounds.

As it is a strong vehicle, one has to be careful when it is in motion. As they are not designed for rocky trails and dirt trails it can become dangerous to drive them. There have been a number of injuries related to these buggies and these also include them being driven by minors while they were not being supervised by adults.

Never forget that a golf buggy is not only limited to the golf clubs. These are also used on island resorts to transport tourists and retirement communities have taken a liking in them by installing trail systems to render support and transport to the retirees living there. Zoological gardens have also noticed the positive response to visitors making use of the buggies to move around the gardens for the day.

In the golfing market one finds portable and collapsible golf buggies. They do not have motors and their weight is quite little too. They are pushed around by golf players. The spring suspensions allow for it to move easily over rough terrain and it also has maintenance free tires. The golf clubs are also protected during the movement when it is being pushed.
