Three Tips for Beginning Golf Players

By Tom Little

At one time or another, one of your friends may have taken you out for a game of golf and you took a few shots and determined that you wanted to learn the game the right way. However, before you bolt out and buy a lot of golf items, in order for you to be considered a real golfer, you really should get a little bit more data about the game of golf first. This article will give you a few tips that will aid you during your learning trip through the wonderful world of golfing.

The first step in the process of becoming a genuine golfer is to get the right gear. This means you also need to have balls that are suited for the way you play golf and the right clothing for playing. Two-piece balls or three-piece balls are the main types of balls from which you can choose. Beginning golfers are better off using two-piece balls and three-piece balls are a good choice for more advanced players. It's a good idea to get a little experience under your belt before you make the move to the three-piece ball. In terms of attire, you don't really need anything special other than comfortable clothing that offers you free range of motion for your swing. If you're wearing a tight jacket, you won't be able to swing far enough for those long shots you love to watch on television.

It's also important to know what each club is used for, if you want to play a really good game of golf. For example, a driver is used for maximum distance and can send the ball flying up to 230 yards for men and 200 yards for women. A 7-iron is used for shots of around 140 yards and 120 yards for men and women respectively. As you can probably imagine, if you don't know your clubs, you're never going to be able to play a good game of golf. If you do not know that an 8 ball cannot make your ball go any further than 130 yards and you utilize it for a 200 yard shot, then you are going to be upset when you can get the distance that you need.

Possessing a wonderful golf swing is the secret to having a wonderful game of golf. Learning the perfect golf swing involves a lot of different things. But, one of these components involves getting the correct aim. Many golfers align their feet to the right of their target and end up swinging too far to the left. The best way to position yourself is to have your toes parallel to the target line, with the club head aiming in the direction you want the ball to go. Likewise, if you want to master a good distance swing, then you need to be able to generate power. While strength is important to generating sufficient power, your swing also plays an important role. The way to generate the optimum amount of power is to turn so that your left shoulder is over your right foot on the backswing.

So, as you have seen, turning into a good golf player is just as essential as playing the game itself. However, no matter what anyone tells you, it is vital that you believe in yourself because with practice and hard work, anyone can play a great game of golf.
