Is A Two Thumb Putter Grip For You?

By Victor Gorey

The two thumb putter grip in golf is showing up on the PGA/LPGA tours. Could this two thumb putter grip be the right thing for you to use? Continue to read to see what other golfers are saying and doing - I certainly am looking into making a change.

The two thumb putter grip is a much bigger grip than a regular grip. With its square appearance, it is wider than a regular grip. This grip allows you to hold the grip with your two thumbs side by side. Making the switch to a two thumb putter grip could be a smart move on your part.

The biggest improvements have been seen in the following areas:

1. Improved hitting distances, with much greater control. 2. Putts of up to 15 feet have been going in more often 3. Helped diminished erratic putts. 4. Very important technique - an improved pendulum motion while swinging.

If you are not satisfied with your putting ability, why not try a two thumb putter grip before buying a new club? This can definitely save you lots of money and headaches with trying out various clubs. It's very important that it feels comfortable - if it doesn't properly fit in your hands, try something different. it wont work for everyone.

As with any grip, you can adapt this two thumb putter grip to your own personal preference. Many golfers have adapted this grip by keeping the left hand further up the grip and dropping the right hand down. This allows you to use your right hand to hit with more power. It could feel as though you are rolling the ball towards the hole with your right hand. This variation makes it so that you are more consisten with your putts.

If you have gone out and tried all the different types of putters, including belly putters, chin putters, left hand low, left hand putting, thumb-to-thumb grips with a regular putter, mallet putters and blade putters, maybe you should try the two thumb putter grip first and see if this relieves your frustrations?

A lot of recreational players now say they have a putting average of about 30 putts a round. Being able to putt like this instills so much confidence in you. Your game will for sure improve. Golfers who had previously lost their love of golf are now returning to the golfing scene because of the two thumb putter grip - it really is becoming a bit of a revelation.

With putting being the weakest part of the game for many golfers, any new innovations could prove to be very helpful. The two thumb putter grip makes the club a little heavier, but actually promotes a much smoother stroke. You could even get some weird looks at the golf course, but when other players see how you play, they will be asking you where you got your two thumb putter grip from.
