Golf Driver Covers: The Perfect Way To Protect Your Woods

By Leah Freeman

If you're serious about the game of golf and want to protect your investment, then golf driver covers should be an essential part of your gear, and one of the first things to buy. If you want to make sure your golf clubs and your ever-precious driver maintains its immaculate condition, you cannot go wrong when you have the best possible set of covers - this should satiate anyone asking why we're asking you to spend money in order to save, which we admit doesn't really sound too realistic at first.

These covers, in case you don't know yet, are simply placed over the head of your driver and your other clubs, so that moisture, hot weather, cold weather and dust doesn't get to your clubs - it also protects them from getting damaged as they make contact with other clubs.

It isn't just one club in particular you should be protecting, but every single one of them. This is standard procedure if you wish to protect all your irons from the elements, as well as damage that could occur if the head of one club makes contact with another while jostling around in your golf bag.

Provided that you take good care of them, golf driver covers could last for quite a while. Most of these covers were made of leather in the past, but there are now synthetic covers available made of materials like neoprene, synthetic leather or plastic. You could go the traditional route and buy a genuine leather cover, but be prepared for extensive maintenance to keep it in top shape, especially if exposed to weather.

A golf club is one of the most precious sporting goods you can own. A good quality driver may cost anywhere between a few hundred to more than a thousand, so it is definitely worth spending a little bit more to protect it and make sure that it is always in great shape.

You can choose from several designs, including novelty themes. If you are having a hard time deciding which golf head covers to buy, you can do a couple things. When in doubt, research - you can either do so by going to the Internet and visiting an on line store, or checking with your friends for their opinions. Your local golf equipment store will also carry a range but be aware they will probably just recommend you buy whichever ones are their best sellers.

As always, you have to find a balance between quality and the size of your budget. If you have a top of the range driver, you will probably want a top of the range cover to give it maximum protection. But if your golf clubs are mostly hand-me-downs, then maybe spending much on the covers wouldn't be as necessary.

However, do not forget that covers will lengthen the useful life of your clubs. Golf driver covers are a wise investment, especially if you're on a tight budget - they will keep the heads of your driver and woods in the best condition possible.
