Basic Golfer's Necessities

By Stephanie Parsons

If you envision becoming a golfer, purchasing the right equipment is your first step. Necessities will include a set of clubs, a golf bag, tees, and golf balls. Buying expensive equipment may seem like a good choice, but especially when it comes to golf balls, you are better off buying less expensive ones since many will probably get lost. After you become more proficient, you can experiment with different brands until you find one you feel comfortable with. Some golfers claim you need expensive golf balls to succeed while others continue using cheap golf balls and never make the switch.

Golf balls are sold in groups of three of more depending on the brand. Golf balls can be purchased anywhere where sporting goods are sold. Golf balls can be found in different colors, from traditional white to pink, green, yellow and blue. Buying balls in different colors can help you distinguish your ball on the green.

Having a bag of golf balls available before you start will ensure you will have enough, as many get easily lost. As your game improves, you will notice that you can get through an entire game without losing a golf ball. Finding your golf ball each time will become increasingly easier as your game improves.

Storing golf balls does not require any fancy carrying cases or storage areas. Your bag should have a small pocket for your golf balls. A minimum of three golf balls should be carried at all times to avoid running out during your game. Because of their durability, golf balls can be stored in your bag for months at a time.

You should plan on including replacement golf balls in your budget, if you are a beginner. You should buy golf balls that are the right size and weight to fit your playing style. Golfing is a relaxing hobby that most people can learn quickly when the have the proper equipment.
