Tips To Make Your Golf Swing Better

By Mark Landry

If your golf swing is not where you want it to be and you would love some assistance on making it much better, review the following golf swing tips to improve your golf swing.

Swinging your arms is only part of a golf swing

Much more goes into golf swing than simply swinging your arms. For example, you should start with the correct stance which means ensuring that when your back is turned away from the target your arms are hinged and your golf club is behind. Pay attention on practicing the no arms golf swing drill to assist you with this stance.

Position of your wrists - cocked

Another essential tip when doing your golf swing is to be certain your wrists are completely cocked. Though this may not be easy at first, you will find with practice that it becomes second nature.

Left arm position - clockwise

When you begin a back swing your left arm must naturally move in a clockwise position. This movement is an automatic response and shouldn't be corrected. If you have a tendency to change this try to resist the temptation.

Your feet should be anchored to the ground

A number of golf players feel that by lifting their front heel a little from the ground their swing will be much better. This may be as a result from playing other sports, such as baseball, where this movement is appropriate. However, in golf keeping both feet firmly planted is important. Your foot may roll inwards slightly and is perfectly acceptable.

Use the lower part of your body for the down swing

You might have done each part of your golf back swing the right way, ensuring that your posture is correct, your grip and your turn. However the following down swing can be impaired because you have used your shoulders instead of the lower part of your body to begin the movement.

Make sure your belt buckle is facing your target

When executing your down swing try to put energy, power and speed into the turn of your hips and you will be surprised at how good the results will be.
