Enhance Your Game With These Golf Tips!

By Christie Palmer

So you want to try your hand at golf? Do you know anything about this sport? Do you know about all of the different kinds of clubs that you can use? Do you know what entails a great golf swing? If these questions raise more questions than you can answer, try looking at the tips below.

Avoid cramming your head with too many things to think about before your swing. By concentrating on too many possible swing problems while taking your shot, you are only asking for trouble. Pick three key points to remember, take your practice swing, then approach your shot with an cluttered mind.

For a powerful, long distance, consistent golf swing, a swing must follow through beyond the ball. For your longest distance shots, imagine a pole coming out of the ground where the ball is. At the end of your swing, your left shoulder should be past this imaginary pole, but be careful not to swing your hips to do it.

Make sure you are not swaying during your golf shot, as this will produce poor shots. Your body must not move left or right or up and down, including your head. While your head will move slightly, it should not move significantly. Practicing staying still as you swing will improve your shot.

When performing a golf swing, the right leg is the root of everything. It's essential to keep weight on your right leg, with the knee slightly bent, during the back swing. If your right leg is weak, it means a major lack of power. Imagine your knee braced against a solid wall while swinging.

Finding a good and relaxing course is key to having a great and relaxing golf game if you're not playing competitively. If you have too many distractions or there are too many people there it may interfere with your game. Golf is generally a relaxing game unless played for sport.

No matter how good you may be at golf, at some time or another, your ball is going to land in the bunkers or sand traps. Trying to hit your ball out of these obstructions can sometimes really mess up the sand. Please follow proper golf etiquette and rake the bunker neatly when you leave. A neatly raked bunker will allow subsequent golfers to more readily play the ball as it lies in the sand.

Before you swing the golf club "" take time to line up! Aligning yourself for your shot is easy enough to do when you focus on a high and low object to set your line. Focus on something in the distance, not the flag, that is in the direction you need to swing based off wind and other factors. Following that line back to you, find something on the ground in front of you to focus on for the low. Doing this takes your focus off the flag since it is not usually the target you are aiming for directly.

Do you now understand what makes golf? Do you know about clubs and how to use them? Do you now know what it takes to make a great golf swing? If you have an idea of how to answer these questions now, then you have read and understood what it takes to become a better golfer.
